Mike Holtz Does the Singing

Mr. Holtz, of Carmen the Cactus, brings his solo show to the HoDo Lounge tomorrow night. We expect a dose of tight, smooth folk/pop from Mike ... and we expect a little of the unexpected. He's a local boy, too, so come on out and show your support. No cover, 21+.

Flatlands Tonight!

The lads from Flatlands will take over the HoDo Lounge tonight at 8:30 p.m. No cover, 21+.

Flatlands is a favorite with us. They've been here, like, a dozen times, and there's a reason why. They strum rich guitars, tinkle the keys and provide rich harmonies to delight the ear. They have fun. And, they'll even get you onto the dance floor.

You have to be here to see what the fuss is all about. Chill out, sip some wine and enjoy the comfy confines of the HoDo Lounge. We'll see you there.

Chrome-Plated Rock 'n' Roll

The Front Fenders last visited us back in March. The response was incredible, and we're happy to have such a fun group back in the HoDo Lounge tomorrow night. If you have any winter blues left, they'll shake 'em out of you.

The fun starts at 8:30 p.m. There's no cover and it's 21+.

Noggin' Bobbin' with the John Thomas Trio

It means something when a band can elicit a variety of responses. The John Thomas Trio (listen here on MySpace) does that. There's a toe-tapping, head-bobbing thing going on, and there's a "how'd they do that?" thing going on too. It's provocative modern jazz pushed to the hilt; think Medeski, Martin and Wood simmering in the theatric fingerings of Trey Anastasio and the drama of Ennio Morricone. You are urged to respond.

The JTT will settle in tomorrow for a set in the HoDo Lounge at 8:30 p.m., 21+, no cover.

Sunday Foodie Sunday

As many of our guests will note, dining in downtown Fargo on a Sunday is a limited affair. Sure, there are options, but so many downtown restaurants take the day off that our Sunday guests never realize the full potency of our dining scene.

To remedy this, the Hotel Donaldson will now offer room service to our Sunday night guests from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Our full restaurant and lounge menus will be available, so you can sample our best while chillaxin' in the comfort of your room.

Foot Stompin' with Charlie Parr and the Johnson Family Band

"Hootenanny" is a term that gets thrown around so much, it's lost most of its meaning. But, really, it's the only word that accurately describes what will happen tonight at the HoDo Lounge. Charlie Parr and Fargo's own Johnson Family Band will each present their own lesson in revival Americana to the HoDo Lounge tonight. The music starts at 6 p.m. There is a $3 cover charge for Charlie Parr starting at 9 p.m. Both shows are 21+.
